Small Scale, Big Change at the MoMA



Over the holidays I had a chance to visit an exhibition at the MoMA that looked at a number of projects aimed at improving the lives of those in under served communities through small-scale architectural interventions. 

The recession and subsequent housing crisis of the past year have driven home the need for more socially engaged architecture. The need for precedent-setting approaches to sustainable developments is great. So what is the role of architecture in responding to communities in need? Each of these projects respond to that need through simplicity in the built environment arrived at through a social engagement unique to each project.
