An Entry Point

Like many professions, the practice of architecture and design draw inspiration from past precedents and excellence in their field. Looking to such examples not only serves as inspiration but can provide a platform for further innovation. While we look to examples of work that is driven from different cultural identities, we seek to better understand the community we are part of.

DSRAenvision is an architectural practice with a range of cultural identity, expertise and interests. Building a project that serves to address the social needs of Halifax requires that we seek to better understand needs from the vantage points of different Halifax communities. As a point of entry into this project, each member of the team at DSRAenvision will seek a community issue that lends itself to an architectural response. Identifying this need may require that we ask ourselves what is missing within our community but also asking the community what they feel is missing. We will begin with compiling the observations and ideas of each team member, working together to define our future project.
